VIRTUAL VOID (cz) - The Dark Nineties - CD
Until 2018, they were part of the narrow company of the longest-running Czech extreme metal bands. We are talking about VIRTUAL VOID, the band that experienced strong 1990s, and the story of a man whose will did not let the band go. Despite dozens of problems, drummer Milan Marek alias Moloch kept sealing the holes and pushed the band further until 2018, and even then it was not a burn-out in the true sense of the word. The VIRTUAL VOID quartet transformed into a doom metal trio called CHLAD. Milan took over vocal duties in CHLAD as it was the singer who left the line-up. “Virtual Void” was initially supposed to be a title of a song on the first demo “Kill Your Memories”, but they liked the name so much that they decided to use it for the band. The activities of VIRTUAL VOID were based in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, a town in the foothills of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, where several other interesting metal bands were active in the 1990s and at the turn of the millennium, such as COUNTESS BATHORY (which later became SARAPIS) or HORMONY CORRUPTION. VIRTUAL VOID, just like all others, could not avoid all sorts of crises, which eventually stopped their supply of recordings after the well-established 1990s. Countless crises as well as faces in the band exchanged around Milan and a longer pause ensued in 2005, which led to the replacement of the entire line-up. Since 2009, VIRTUAL VOID kept together in the same line-up and the years of efforts culminated in the form of two albums “Ride To Hell On Fucking Whores” (2013) and “Rest In Piss” (2016), both released under my label Pařát Productions. Their quality was appreciated especially by fans of old school metal, who found their living water in the old black metal spiced with thrash and death. The first two cassette demos of VIRTUAL VOID were first released together on a CD entitled “Kill Your Memories / Sinister Barrier” in 1999. It was a short run of burnt discs with a simple cover, purely under the auspices of the band itself. Now, 25 years later, this material sees a respectable reissue in a new graphic appearance.
