ELECTROCUTIONER (us) - Harbringer - LP
Emerging from Long Island’s snarling underground, Electrocutioner have channeled their raw DIY spirit into Harbinger. The trio — Mark Pursino (guitar/vocals/synth), Rich Nieves (bass), and Tyler Bogliole (drums) — linger in the shadow of thrash legends like Whiplash, Slayer, and Exorcist, yet they sharpen the formula with precise songwriting, blistering riffs, and catchy gang‑chant choruses.
Set to strike this fall, Harbinger amplifies the cinematic horror-laced motifs and speed-driven riffage showcased on their 2023 debut, False Idols, which rocked reviewers with its basement‑crafted charm and synth‑spiked interludes.
Each track is steeped in old‑school energy, yet refined by modern clarity. Moments of synth‑driven dread punctuate the chaos, offering brief, eerie respites before the band detonates again in a final explosion of speed and darkness. The songwriting reflects decades of underground sensibility — riff-first construction, concise arrangements under four minutes, zero excess — and intentionally harsh, abrasive hooks that demand pit action.
From the opening roar to its punishing finale, Harbinger is more than an album — it’s a declaration: Electrocutioner have tapped into the Big Apple’s thrash lineage and blasted it into the modern age. Sharper, faster, and more cinematic, this record heralds their arrival as torch‑bearers of the New Wave of Old‑School Thrash.
